The short version: our tools run in your browser, we collect only what we need to email you or deliver what you bought, we never sell your personal information, and you can ask us to delete it any time.

Who we are

Guide to Fatherhood ("we," "us") operates guidetofatherhood.com. To contact us about privacy, use the contact form and choose "Privacy request."

What we collect and why

Tools

Our calculators, checklists and planners run in your browser. What you enter (like a due date or a names shortlist) is stored on your device using your browser's local storage and in the page link if you choose to share it. It is not sent to our servers.

Email list

If you sign up, we store your email address, the optional due date or baby's birth date you give us (used only to time emails to your stage), where you signed up, and timestamps for signup, confirmation and unsubscribing. We use double opt-in: we email you a confirmation link before sending regular emails. Every email has an unsubscribe link. Our email provider is Resend, which processes your address to deliver messages.

Purchases

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. Stripe shares with us your email address, the amount paid, and an order reference so we can deliver your download and handle refunds. Stripe's use of your data is governed by the Stripe Privacy Policy.

Contact form

We store what you send (name, email, topic, message) so we can reply.

Server logs

Like most websites, our hosting provider keeps technical logs (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested) for security and troubleshooting, kept for a limited time.

Cookies and similar technologies

  • Essential: remembering your theme choice and tool progress in local storage; a secure session cookie for site administrators only.
  • Analytics (only with your consent): if enabled, Google Analytics 4 is loaded only after you click "Allow analytics." It helps us see which pages are useful. You can change your choice any time with "Privacy choices" in the footer.
  • Advertising: if enabled, Google AdSense shows ads and may use cookies to show relevant ads and measure them. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland see Google's certified consent message and can accept or decline. Learn how Google uses data at How Google uses information from sites that use its services, and manage ad personalization at Google Ad Settings.
  • Affiliate links: when you click a link to Amazon, Amazon may set cookies to attribute any purchase to us. That happens on Amazon's site under the Amazon Privacy Notice.

Who we share data with

We share personal data only with service providers that help us run the site: our hosting and database provider (Railway), our email provider (Resend), our payment processor (Stripe), and, if enabled, Google (AdSense and Analytics). We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising other than through Google's advertising services described above, which you can control.

How long we keep data

  • Email subscribers: while you're subscribed; after you unsubscribe we keep only a record of the unsubscribe so we don't email you again.
  • Orders: as long as needed for tax and accounting records.
  • Contact messages: up to two years, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you, and get a copy.
  • Correct it.
  • Delete it.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing, or withdraw consent.
  • Opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information (we don't sell it; for advertising choices, see Cookies above).
  • Not be discriminated against for using these rights.

EEA and UK residents (GDPR): we process data based on your consent (email list, analytics, personalized ads), to perform a contract (delivering a purchase), and for our legitimate interests (security, replying to messages). You can complain to your local data protection authority.

California residents (CCPA/CPRA): the categories of personal information we collect are identifiers (email, name), commercial information (purchases), and internet activity (analytics, if you consent). We don't sell personal information and don't knowingly share the personal information of anyone under 16.

To make a request, use the contact form ("Privacy request"). We'll respond within the time required by law, usually within 30 days.

Children

This site is for adults. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Babies' names and birth dates you enter in tools stay in your browser.

Security

We use HTTPS everywhere, signed and expiring download links, and limited access to stored data. No method is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what we keep.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. For significant changes affecting subscribers, we'll tell you by email.
